The
15th day of the 8th lunar month, the full moon day, is called
ChuSeok or HanGaWi.
As
this day marks the harvest time, it is regarded as Thanksgiving
Day in America.
Nowdays,
Koreans perform worshiping ritual of their ancestors with
food made of new crops(SongPyeon, a crescent-shaped rice
cake is one major food) early in the morning, visiting the
tombs of their ancestors and trim the plants of the tombs.
A
variety of folk games are played on ChuSeok. A tug of rope
in the GyeongSang Province and GangGangSulLae in the JeonLa
Province are conducted. And farmer's musical band is prevalent
in all provinces. |
